THE END OF TRIMAPEE.
After 6 long years, avant-garde Melbourne based Men’s
and Women’s label, TRIMAPEE are ending the final chapter of their astounding
tale.
Designers Mario-Luca Carlucci and Peter Strateas have
made the heart-wrenching decision to call it a day on their beloved label,
which they began at the young age of only 21. After many successful seasons
both locally and overseas, showing in countless Australian fashion Weeks,
showing their collections in both Paris and New York, and after also having
success in retail with their Melbourne flagship store first in Fitzroy, now
relocated to Melbourne’s QV; questions arise to why the pair have decided to end
the brand which seems to be going from strength to strength.
“The decision was very difficult for us” explains
Carlucci. “The basis around the choice was not financial, nor hardship – if
anything we purely outgrew the brand and the vision. We felt we took the brand
as far as we could possibly take it, and despite all our milestones and
achievements over the many years, our goals and visions have changed as we
have, as both designers and people”
TRIMAPEE have announced that the current “COMATOSE” collection,
which is in, selected stores now and also in their own QV store, is the last
chance for loyal fans and cult-followers to get their hands on limited stock.
“We wanted to end the label on a high. Despite the
challenges we have had over the years, overall our time at TRIMAPEE have been
the best years of our life.” Carlucci continues. “We want to thank everyone in
the industry for their support over the years, from stylists, to journalists,
photographers, models and producers, to manufacturers and suppliers – everyone
has been an extension of our team. And most of all, we want to say a huge
thank-you to our loyal customers who have supported us and kept our vision
alive for so many years”
So, if this is the end of an era for TRIMAPEE, is this
the end of the careers of the designers?
“No. This is an evolution. This is the beginning of
something new”.
